Kitesurf in Torremolinos

When the wind comes in nicely, Torremolinos is where we like to take progression. We ride in the authorised Guadalmar kite zone, a roughly 300-metre stretch of beach reserved for watersports — from the La Traviata beach bar towards Torremolinos, facing the golf course — authorised by the Junta de Andalucía and Capitanía Marítima under the municipal Beaches Plan. The thermal effect from the Guadalhorce valley concentrates a steadier wind here than along the rest of the coast, which helps anyone who already controls the kite on land and wants to step into the water: body-drag, waterstart and first runs. It is well connected, near the airport, so it is handy if you are coming from elsewhere.

We use the reserved Guadalmar space to work on body-drag and the waterstart with plenty of room and no crowding, without encroaching on the swimming area, which stays clearly separated. It is where we usually take riders who already control the kite and want to start truly sailing, and it is handy if you are staying near the airport.

Getting there

The kite zone is in Guadalmar, on the boundary between Málaga and Torremolinos: a roughly 300 m stretch facing the golf course, next to the La Traviata beach bar, about 15–20 minutes via the A-7 and very close to the airport. We send you the exact meeting point by WhatsApp depending on where the wind works best that day.

FAQ

Kitesurf in Torremolinos: what people ask

For the wind and the zone: Guadalmar has an authorised roughly 300 m stretch reserved for watersports, with a steadier breeze from the Guadalhorce valley thermal effect.
It works for both. For a first contact we usually prefer Rincón, but if the wind is best here we start here just as happily, within the authorised zone.
